The short version
This is a static site that shows news headlines. There are no accounts, no sign-ups and no database of visitors. We do not ask you for anything, and we keep nothing about you.
Like most free sites, it runs an analytics tool so we can see how many people visit, and it shows ads, which pay for the hosting. Both are third-party services, and both are described below.
Analytics
We use a third-party analytics service to count visits. It records the page you looked at, roughly which country you are in, and your browser and screen size, and it uses cookies or similar identifiers to tell repeat visits apart.
We only ever look at the totals. We are not trying to work out who you are, and we could not if we wanted to — there is no name or email address here to match anything against.
Ads
The ads come from a third-party advertising network. Ad networks set their own cookies and may use them to decide which ad to show you, including based on sites you have visited elsewhere. That part is theirs and not something we can see. We do not send them anything about you, because we have nothing to send.
Two things we do control, and have decided:
- No pop-ups, pop-unders or overlays. Nothing opens a window you did not ask for.
- Three ad slots, never above the news — and none at all on this page, the Terms or the contact form.
Translation
The Translate control in the header hands the page to Google's translation service. Nothing loads from it until you actually use it — leave the control alone and no request is made. Once you pick a language, the headlines are sent to Google to be translated and a cookie remembers your choice. Choosing "Original languages" clears it.
Machine translation gets things wrong sometimes. Every headline links to the publisher's own article, which is always the authority.
What stays on your device
Your chosen country and language are remembered in your browser's local storage. Neither value leaves your browser, neither is sent with any request, and we cannot read them. Clearing your site data removes them, and the site works normally without them.
Country detection
To open on the right country, the page asks our own /api/geo endpoint where you appear to be.
It runs on our host's network, which works out an approximate country from the connection you are already
making and returns nothing but a two-letter code. We never receive, log or store your IP address, and
nothing more precise than a country is involved. If you have picked a country before, that choice wins.
The contact form
What you type goes straight to a private chat that only the site's operator reads. Nothing is stored on our side — no database, no mailbox, no log. Your email address is included only if you choose to give one; leave it blank and the message still arrives, just with no way to reply.
We use it to answer you and to fix what you reported, nothing else. It arrives as an ordinary chat message, so please do not send anything sensitive.
Hosting and links out
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any host, they handle the technical details of a request in order to deliver the page. We add no logging of our own.
Every headline links to the publisher's own site, and their privacy practices apply once you are there — most news sites use cookies, analytics and advertising. Our links do not tell them you came from here.
Your rights, and turning it off
Privacy law in many places gives you rights over your personal data. For anyone who has only read the site, we hold none: no account, no profile, no record of your visit. For the analytics and advertising data, those rights are exercised with the companies that hold it.
The one thing we might have is a message you sent through the contact form, sitting in a chat. Ask us to delete it and we will.
To stop the tracking entirely, use a content blocker or a browser that blocks third-party trackers, and block third-party cookies. The site works perfectly well with all of that switched on — nothing here is behind a tracking wall.
The site is not aimed at children. If this policy changes we will update the date at the top. Questions go through the contact page.
